Any time I'm asked to think of a time when a student who came back from a rough academic period, I immediately think of _______________. They are truly an example of resilience and how hard work and dedication can really turn things around.
_______________ did fairly well freshman year, but squeaked by with a 2.0 GPA sophomore year. It was around this time that they approached me after class to share their dream of becoming a teacher. Their passion for this career path wasn't showing up in their coursework and, after making sure that there weren't other issues at play, we set about working on strategies for academic improvement.
_______________ developed better study skills and focus and got As and Bs as a junior. Now, halfway through fall semester, they are on track to make straight As. Their SAT scores are impressive as well.
