College Recommendation Letter Financial Need

To Whom It May Concern,

I have known _______________ for many years and am submitting this letter as part of their appeal for financial aid for college.

_______________'s grades, test scores, and essay were superior enough to merit early admission to their college of choice. But all of that is in jeopardy now due to a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of their family's economic situation.

For further context, _______________ has been working after school and weekends since the day they were old enough to get a work permit. But these jobs weren't for "fun money" or to save up for a car. This income went toward the family's day-to-day needs such as food and rent. A series of setbacks resulted in the inability of the parents to fully provide for the family, so _______________ stepped up and stepped in. Unfortunately, this student's labor resulted in an on-paper income boost that had the result of shutting them out of some forms of need-based aid.

I can personally attest to the fact that _______________ is truly in need of financial assistance if they are to pursue their educational goals.
