I hope all is well with you. I'm wondering if you would consider taking a moment to write a letter of recommendation for me?

I'm applying for a job as Widget Analyst with XYZ Corporation. You may remember that when I was in your Intermediate Widgets lab class, you picked up on my interest in the dynamic field of widget analysis and helped steer me in that direction. I credit you with my growth in this field.

The position requires a sound knowledge of widget calculations and computer mapping, so if you can tailor your insights to highlight my experience in those areas, I would greatly appreciate it.
